As mentioned at last night’s opening dinner, we need 2-3 parent photographers for each team. This year, we are using Shutterfly Share sites (I’ve created one for each team) to make it very easy for the parent photographers to upload photos, and I’ve written easy-to-follow, step-by-step directions for uploading photos… it’s very easy!!  Please volunteer!  Just email or tell your son’s coach you will be one of the team photographers, and give him your name & email address and I’ll send you upload directions.

Former Staples star John Oppenhimer has been named a tri-captain for the 2013 Roger Williams University  baseball Team.While at Staples John was a captain,3 year starter and  2 time FCIAC Champion!

As you prepare for the upcoming season here are a few reminders which the CIAC Baseball Committee would like to call to your attention:

Bats: The bat rule adopted January 1, 2012 remains in effect. Currently, there are three (3) non- wood baseball bats that the NFHS has decertified for use in high school competition. This short list is subject to change. Additional non-wood baseball bats could possibly be added to this list and you can check periodically at: http://www.nfhs.org/content.aspx?id=8394 The decertified bats as of this date are the following: Marucci Cat 52 33″ non-wood baseball bat (Decertification notice date: February 21, 2012) Reebok Vector TLS 32″ non-wood baseball bat (Decertification notice date: March 26, 2012) Reebok Vector TLS 33″ non-wood baseball bat (Decertification notice date: March 26, 2012) These bats should be considered non-compliant and subject to NFHS Baseball Rules 4-1-3b and7-4-1a.
